We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with Mobilears and Rejoice Hearing Systems to offer free hearing tests and a way to purchase hearing aids that are tailored to the results from the test to our patients at 501 Pharmacy. The RxLocal App brings the best features of 501 Pharmacy right to the palm of your hand. With the app, you are able to order and manage you and your family’s medications, text our pharmacy team, set reminders to pick up or request refills, and more! Convenience is key and our patient app makes it easier for you to interact with 501 Pharmacy from all your smart devices.

How to Download the App

Click on the links below to download the RxLocal App for free for iPhone or for Android or text RXLOCAL to 64890. Then follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Select “Register for an Account Now”
Select North Carolina and Chapel Hill for the State and City
Choose 501 Pharmacy
Input your Last Name, Rx Number, and Date of Birth
Input Username and Password
Set Pin Number

How to Refill Medications Through the App

Once you login to the app, select “Refill Medications”
Click on the person who is needing to refill the medication
Choose one or multiple medications needed to be refilled
Select “Pick Up” or “Delivery” for your medication, then select “Submit Refill”
Receive a confirmation email

How to Set up Reminders in the App

Once you login to the app, select “Reminders”
Touch “Create New Reminder”
Select the person for whom you are creating a reminder
Select the medication that you wish to create a reminder for and touch “Continue”
Use the tabs at the top to select the frequency of your reminder and touch “Continue”
Set up the reminder time and touch “Save Reminder”

Regular Flu Shots Available at 501 Pharmacy

It’s that time of year again, time to get your flu shot and we recommend making it a family affair! At 501 Pharmacy we are able to administer flu shots to patients 14 and up. We currently have plenty of vaccines available. Flu shots are just $34.99 for cash-paying patients but are generally free with most insurances. No appointments needed! Stop by 501 Pharmacy Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., or on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., to get your flu shot.

High Dose Flu Shots Coming Soon

High dose flu shots are not in yet but should be here by the end of September. They reformulated the vaccine which has delayed us getting it at 501 Pharmacy. High dose flu shots are usually 100% covered by insurance. If you are not sure if you need a high dose flu shot or the regular flu shot, talk to someone on our team and they can help.

Why Should You Get the Flu Shot?

Influenza or the flu is a very serious disease that can lead to hospitalization or even death. Every flu season is unique and the flu affects everyone differently. Even a person who is very healthy can get sick from the flu or a flu-related illness and spread it to others.

Getting the flu shot is not just about protecting yourself, it also helps the community. When you get the flu shot, you are helping to keep higher-risk seniors and young children, who may not be able to get the vaccine, safe.

Who Should Get the Flu Shot?

Everyone who is six months or older should get the flu vaccine every season. These flu shots are also approved for use in pregnant women and people with chronic health conditions.

The only people who should not get a flu shot are those that are younger than six months of age or who have life-threatening allergies to the flu vaccine or any ingredient that is in the vaccine. If you have an allergy to eggs or any of the ingredients in the vaccine, you should talk to your doctor about your allergy before getting the flu shot. If you are not feeling well, you should talk to your doctor about your symptoms before you get the flu shot or wait until you are feeling better.
