Discover Rx Recycling Guidelines

  1. Vials: Empty vials can usually be recycled with glass.
  2. Bottles: Empty plastic prescription bottles can often be recycled with other plastics. Remove any labels or caps before recycling.
  3. Adherence Packages: Check with your local recycling program. Some programs accept blister packs, while others do not due to the mix of materials.
  4. Ampoules: These are typically made of glass and can be recycled with glass.
  5. Sachets: Sachets made of paper or cardboard may be recyclable with paper products. Plastic sachets may not be recyclable in some areas.
  6. Syringes: Syringes are generally not recyclable due to safety concerns. Check with your local waste management facility for proper disposal options.
  7. Tubes: Tubes made of plastic may be recycled with other plastics.
  8. Dropper bottles: Empty glass dropper bottles can usually be recycled with glass. Plastic dropper bottles may be recyclable with other plastics.
  9. Unit dose packaging: This type of packaging may vary widely in recyclability depending on the materials used. Check with your local recycling program for guidance.

Always rinse out containers before recycling and follow any specific instructions provided by your local recycling program. If in doubt, contact your local waste management facility for guidance on recycling prescription packaging.
