Your Winter Medicine Cabinet Checklist
Brrr, it’s getting cold out there! Your first line of defense when the sniffles or a sore throat hit are items like pain relievers and fever reducers, daytime/nighttime cold and flu medicines, cough syrup or cough drops, decongestants to relieve stuffy noses and sinus pressure, and saline nasal spray.
Monitoring Tools
In an effort to track any symptoms and improve comfort at home, you’ll want to make sure you have such things on hand as a digital thermometer (with fresh batteries), a humidifer to add moisture to dry winter air and ease coughing and congestion, a heating pad or warm compress (great for body aches), and tissues (lots and lots of tissues!).
Allergy & Respiratory Support
Yes, you can get allergies in the wintertime too! Stock up on antihistamines; nasal strips, which help improve breathing while sleeping; and inhalers or respiratory aids if recommended by your doctor.
First Aid Must-Haves
Most of these items you likely already have on hand, but they’re crucial for minor injuries and skin issues that are more common in dry, cold weather: adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes/spray, antibiotic ointment, itch cream, lip balm, and heavy-duty moisturizer or lotion.
