Safe Sun Tips 🌞
It’s finally summer and we could not be more thrilled, as we’re sure you are too! Now is the time when many spend their days at the pool, beach, lake—or just outside in general. Of course, the sun’s rays are a lot stronger during the summer months, so whenever you’re spending time outside it’s important to wear a strong SPF. There are other ways to protect yourself as well. Here are some tips!
Wear Sunscreen
First and foremost, always wear sunscreen if you’re spending a long period of time outside, and remember to reapply every two hours! Han swears by Blue Lizzard‘s mineral-based sunscreen (it’s a tried-and-trusted alternative to chemical sunscreens made without Oxybenzone or Octinoxate which are destructive to the ocean’s coral reefs)—and we already have some in stock at 501 Pharmacy. Come see us and pick some up!
Wear Sunglasses With UV Protection
Unfortunately, you can’t protect your eyes with sunscreen, and some rays from the sun can cause damage to your eyes and even affect your vision. Opt for sunglasses with 100% UV protection, or a UV 400 rating. Don’t worry, there are still lots of stylish options out there!
Wear Protective Clothing
Look for clothes made with special sun-protective materials, and wear dark clothing with tightly woven fabric rather than white or loosely woven fabrics as this will help block more sun. A hat that shades your face, neck, and ears is also a great idea!
Be Cautious of Your Medications
Certain medications, including specific types of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, antifungals, blood pressure medications, and more, make you more sensitive to the sun. Be sure to talk to your doctor, or give us a call with any questions!
