How to Stay Safe as the Holidays Approach 🎃

Believe it or not, fall and winter holidays are quickly approaching! The CDC has released a list of how to stay safe while celebrating the upcoming holidays. Check out their tips as well as ways to safely celebrate Halloween.

COVID-19 Holiday Prep

Cases in the Community

  • Make sure you are following your state and local laws, rules, and regulations before considering any type of gathering.
  • Consider the number and rate of COVID-19 cases in the community before gathering. Find information on the number of cases in the area on the health department’s website here.

Location, Location, Location

  • Indoor gatherings pose more risk so plan to be outside!

Duration

  • The longer the gathering, the higher the risk. Limit the time of the get-together and stick with it!

Number of People

  • Gatherings with more people pose more risk than gatherings with fewer people. At this time, we are still in the safer at home Phase three. Remember that mass gathering will remain at 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors. There is still an 11:00 p.m. curfew on alcohol sales for in-person consumption in locations such as bars and restaurants until October 23. For more information on phase three head to NC.Gov.

Location Guests are Traveling From

  • Gatherings with attendees traveling from different places pose a higher risk than people who live in the same area.

Safe Ideas for Halloween

Ideas For Halloween

  • Pumpkin carving with the family
  • Halloween-themed scavenger hunts in your neighborhood
  • Virtual Halloween costume contest
  • Halloween movie night with your family
  • Trick-or-treat search in and around your home rather than going house to house this year

The best way to reduce the risk of the spread is to celebrate virtually or with members of your own household. In-person gatherings are risky especially if they are not outside! Please stay safe and continue to follow the governor’s orders as we move towards the holiday season. Things might look different this year, but you can still have a memorable time with the ones you love!
